At a press conference, Bulc said that the initiative seeks, as every year, to promote innovative solutions to the challenges raised by urban mobility, but this time the event will focus on actions that might help to fight global warming.
She said that walking or riding bicycle, taking public and collective means of transportation or combining all these sustainable methods can lead to remarkable social benefits for Europe.
Bulc called to promote individual initiatives, because if they all merge, emissions of carbon dioxide can be reduced, as well as traffic jams, noise, accidents, air pollution, and also mobility can be improved.
The European Mobility Week, held since 1998, opened today in this capital city and will run until September 22, in which various events will be hosted by over 2,000 cities, as the day without cars scheduled for Sunday.
